VTI-CN currently offers about 20 programmes in the broad field of Creative Design, all accredited by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. This progress is spread through three schools: Fashion and Design; Information Technology; Home Economics and Management; Film and Television.
The Institute also offers joint Bachelor degree programmes with her accredited partners. The programmes at VTI-CN are designed and delivered in a manner to change the narrative around Creative Design careers. Most people in these jobs have been trained through informal apprenticeships which have helped in fostering a belief that these roles are for school dropouts or those who cannot afford tertiary education for one reason or the other. One of the ways we achieve this goal is making learners participate in professional events and shows. This allows them to interact with successful professionals and receive guidance and mentorship.
When it comes to internships, the learners and trainers have access to the modern facilities at Catharina Natang. They also have access to other establishments with high quality practice to widen their opportunities. While internships are integral to all programmes, the hands-on approach to academics means that students are already skilled in many areas even before going for internship. This is made possible by the fact that most of the trainers and teachers are active practitioners in their fields. So, there is no theory-practice gap.
